Rolex does celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sea-Dweller, a watch launched as a professional tool in 1967, and the first watch commercialized with a helium escape valve. For once, Rolex includes a vintage reference in one of its models, clearly not what we expected, but yet exactly what the collectors were waiting for: a “red Sea-Dweller”. Indeed, the name of the watch, just like in the old days, is printed in that bright red color that most vintage collectors praised. Still, besides that, this new Rolex Sea-Dweller Single Red Ref. 126600 has much more to offer. 

THE OYSTER PERPETUAL SEA-DWELLER IN OYSTERSTEEL WITH A CERACHROM BEZEL INSERT IN BLACK CERAMIC AND AN OYSTER BRACELET. 

It features a distinctive black dial and large luminescent hour markers. Waterproof to a depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 feet) with a unidirectional 60-minute rotatable bezel, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is amongst the ultra-resistant divers’ watches engineered by Rolex for deep-sea exploration.

LEGENDARY DIVERS’ WATCH 

The 60-minute graduated, unidirectional rotatable bezel of the Sea-Dweller enables divers to precisely and safely monitor their dive and decompression times. 

It is equipped with a patented black Cerachrom bezel insert manufactured by Rolex in a virtually scratchproof ceramic whose colour is unaffected by ultraviolet rays. The graduation is coated via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) with a thin layer of platinum. The sleek black dial features large Chromalight hour markers and hands, filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow for excellent legibility in dark conditions.
